Jersey City Property Tax Increase

Jersey City property owners are facing a significant increase in property taxes. On July 15, the City Council unanimously introduced a budget that would raise the municipal tax rate by 15.5 percent. Although municipal taxes represent only about 37 percent of overall property taxes, the remaining 63 percent, consisting of school and county taxes, is also set to rise by roughly 14.5 percent under budgets adopted earlier this year.
