San Antonio Hospitality Market Report

Midyear 2022

Revenue Growth in San Antonio is Among the Strongest
in the Nation Relative to Pre-Pandemic

Occupancy and ADR gains both outpace national advances. Visitations and room demand in the Alamo City have bounced back emphatically. Upgrades to the River Walk and the presence of historic mission sites are drawing tourists downtown, while families flock to the entertainment hub of Northwest San Antonio, which hosts SeaWorld, Six Flags Fiesta Texas and the San Antonio Aquarium. Additionally, broad economic growth in the metro and just north in Austin is supporting demand across the market, with more people traveling the region in general. These forces enabled occupancy to climb from an average of 46.5 percent in June 2020 through May 2021, to 62.6 percent in the subsequent yearlong span. This gain was nearly 250 basis points stronger than the overall U.S. improvement, while the metro’s ADR also rose at a faster pace. As such, annual RevPAR growth notably outpaced the national rate of increase.
