Excursions Draw Visitors Back to Portland
Summer tourism underscores Portland’s hospitality rebound. With over 2 million room nights expected to be booked during the months of June through August, this year’s summer hotel demand will fall just 11 percent short of the same span during 2019. Nonetheless, the demand gap will close considerably after dropping by 57 percent during the equivalent interval in 2020. The return of seasonal leisure travel will hike up occupancy to an average of 69.4 percent during the summer span, about 1,200 basis points higher than the trailing 12-month figure as of May. The arrival of LIV Golf and NASCAR’s Xfinity Series in Portland during June and July will be paramount to the metro’s rebound, with the two events estimated to bring in a combined 74,000 visitors. Strengthening demand will allow each summer month to notch its highest respective monthly ADR figures to date.
