Longer-run prospects are sound. Hotel occupancy and top-line performance have begun stabilizing and, in some cases, recalibrating. Lingering economic risks are putting a pause on discretionary spending and corporate travel, as evidenced by contracting demand, along with lower weekday and weekend performance. Despite this, Montreal’s hotel sector is well-positioned over the longer term. The market’s reputation as a cultural and festival hub – bolstered by events like the Formula 1 Grand Prix, the Jazz Festival, Osheaga and major conventions – continues to underpin demand. Meanwhile, levels of government are undertaking initiatives to help boost tourism, including the Fonds pour les Initiatives Ponctuelles, Tourisme Montreal’s 2025 summer campaign and a night-time economy strategy.
