Cincinnati Hospitality Market Report

Midyear 2022

Tourism Outlook Encouraged by Rising Travel Demand,
Drivable Distances and University Events

Road trips facilitate traffic through the metro. Cincinnati acts as a gateway from the North and Midwest into southern regions, with five interstates passing through the metro. Despite elevated gas prices and a rise in air travel, nearly 80 percent of American adults report they intend to take a road trip this year, particularly from southern Appalachian states, making Cincinnati a likely overnight stop. Annual events, such as Oktoberfest Zinzinnati, BLINK Cincinnati and various athletic teams, are expected to draw sizable crowds as health restrictions have largely been lifted. The return of these events and rising road travel demand in the region have positioned Cincinnati to record the second-highest average annual hotel occupancy rate in the Midwest by December of this year.
