A Message from the CEO

On behalf of the entire Marcus & Millichap team, we hope you and your families remain healthy and safe and are persevering through this challenging time with strength.

The tragic deaths of George Floyd and other victims of racial injustice and the ensuing violence across the country are painful reminders of the need for systemic change.  As an immigrant, I have been the beneficiary of and remain an ardent believer in what makes America a beacon of hope for millions globally. This includes our free enterprise system, but more importantly, our founding values of liberty, justice, equality and freedom. 

Nearly 25 years ago, I was fortunate to become part of Marcus & Millichap’s culture of inclusivity driven by hard-working, passionate individuals from every race, color, religion and the full spectrum of political and personal beliefs.  This makes us better at understanding and serving our clients who themselves are highly diverse with varied backgrounds from all over the world. Our core values of inclusivity and diversity are emboldened by recent tragic events. 

In recent years, we have proudly expanded support for organizations that drive diversity within our industry including REAP (Real Estate Associate Program) and CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women). These organizations strive to increase participation and opportunities for minorities and women through education, individual mentorship and networking.  In the spirit of taking more action to create positive change in the aftermath of recent tragedies, the company is making a special, additional financial contribution to each of these organizations.

As a country, we have a long way to go to reach the ideals of our founding principles. Acts of violence and destruction set us back and have been disheartening to watch as violence invariably hurts innocent people. Our democracy not only allows for peaceful demonstration and free speech, it encourages it. Let us move forward in a better way by seeking common ground with those who may have different views, nurturing America’s founding values and doing our part to live up to them each day.
