Richard O'Connor

Richard O'Connor is a first vice president in Marcus & Millichap’s Detroit office, specializing in retail properties throughout the Midwest and Florida. With 39 years of experience, Richard has successfully sold every property type, leveraging his deep understanding of real estate fundamentals, problem-solving abilities and exceptional negotiation skills to deliver results for clients.

Since joining Marcus & Millichap in 2007, Richard has closed over $1 billion in transaction volume, earning recognition as an SAI inductee and member of the 7-Figure Club. His achievements include the National Achievement Award and Sales Recognition Award in 2014. Richard’s extensive career spans landlord and tenant representation with Lormax Stern Development, as well as acquisition and disposition of retail centers across the United States. His expertise includes working with major national tenants such as Target, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Kohl’s, and Dick’s Sporting Goods, among others, with a particular focus on big-box retail near dominant regional malls.

A native of Bloomfield Township, Richard studied business management and finance at Western Michigan University and Michigan State University. His institutional client roster includes prominent firms such as Kmart, Meijer’s, Brixmor Property Group, General Motors Corp., Lormax Stern Development Company, Inland Realty Trust, GE Capital and Domino’s Pizza Corporate.
