Matt Scales

Matt Scales brings an extensive professional real estate background to the Marcus & Millichap organization. His career began as a developer’s representative on large-scale commercial projects throughout the Chicagoland area. He later focused on hospitality, retail and casino property development across multiple jurisdictions in the United States. Matt has been a professional commercial real estate broker since 2014 and is licensed in Illinois. 
 
His background is diverse, spanning commercial real estate development, dispositions and acquisitions, new market business development, and collaboration with state-level legislators across the country to help create and pass legislation. Matt has also been involved in several business startups, giving him a unique perspective when working with a broad and diverse client base.
 
Fun side story: …showed up unannounced at the Illinois Department of Transportation to obtain their sign-off on a plat of re-subdivision that required their review and approval. Normally, that can take about 3 weeks to 3 months to get. Matt got it done that afternoon.
 
Matt’s brokerage focus includes casino & retail properties, land, assemblages and complex transactions that require creativity and persistence to bring across the finish line.
