Barry Higgins

Barry J. Higgins began his real estate career in 1980 as a broker with the Denver office of Marcus & Millichap, specializing in the sale of investment real estate. Barry was promoted to Senior Investment Associate in 1984 and in 1989 was named Regional Manager of the Denver office and was also made a Vice President of the company. Barry expanded the Denver office from seven agents to 25 and increased revenue by over 500% during his management tenure. In 1994, Mr. Higgins opened the Salt Lake City office and served as Regional Manager of both the Denver and Salt Lake City offices through 1998.

From 1999 to 2002, Barry focused his attention on condo-conversion developments totaling sales in excess of $25 million. He handled acquisitions, negotiations, conversion processes, entitlements, and final dispositions. Specifically, Barry managed the entire conversion continuum including arranging financing, municipal approvals, construction rehab, marketing, sales, and closings. In 2003 Barry returned to the sales force at Marcus & Millichap, specializing in retail and office brokerage, and as the managing member of The Higgins Group (THG) has handled transactions in excess of $900 million in volume.

Prior to joining Marcus & Millichap, Mr. Higgins was a managing member and developed the Sunrise Condominiums in Steamboat, Colorado. He has acted as an expert witness in various litigations involving real estate issues. He is a Colorado Licensed Real Estate Broker, and a member of NAIOP and ICSC. He has been a supporter of Brokers Benefiting Kids and Doctors Without Borders. Barry spent two years as an alpine coach for the University of Utah’s Women’s Ski Team in 1974 and 1975. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from the University of Utah in 1974 and spent the subsequent four years on the Internal Audit staff of Northwest Energy Corporation.
