The former Williamston Youth Academy is located at 311 Williams Street in Williamston, SC. The property was originally built in 1946 as a 16-room clinic. It was expanded in 1954, and then classified as a “general hospital” in 1958. It operated as a hospital until 1988. In 1989 it was converted to substance abuse facility. In 2016 a $2.3 million renovation was completed and the facility opened as a 54-bed youth behavioral health residential treatment center. In 2018 the facility closed and it has sat vacant since then. The current owners did do some work on the property but did not open the facility. They are looking to sell the property and we have requested a call for offers. The 21,000 square foot, single story building is located on 1.83 acres. Williamston is a small town of approx. 4,100 residents. The most common employment sector in town is manufacturing, construction and health care. Located 15 miles to the south is Anderson, SC, a town of 28,000 people. Only 20 miles to the northeast is Greenville SC, a town of 70,000 people. The Greenville-Spartanburg-Anderson statistical area has a population of 1.6 million. The surrounding businesses includes fast food restaurants, Walgreens, Ace Hardware, baseball complex, and the Williamston Mineral Spring Park. Within a 10-mile radius there are over 85,000 people, 15-mile radius there are 300,000 people, and a 20-mile radius there are 600,000 people.
