Who We Are

Tom Gommels is a commercial real estate agent in Marcus & Millichap’s Minneapolis office, specializing in retail investment sales. He advises private investors and property owners on the acquisition and disposition of single-tenant net lease properties nationwide and multi-tenant retail properties throughout southern Minnesota and northern Iowa.
Gommels joined Marcus & Millichap in 2017 and brings an owner’s perspective to every assignment. He has owned investment real estate for more than 30 years, including commercial real estate for more than 25 years, and has completed transactions involving numerous national and regional tenants. His approach combines persistence, strategic problem-solving and a firsthand understanding of the financial priorities that drive real estate decisions.

That commitment is reflected in the experience of a longtime real estate investor who selected Tom to lead a complex 1031 exchange replacement-property search. The client, a 50-year real estate veteran, credited Tom’s work ethic, patience, knowledge of the exchange process and understanding of market dynamics with helping safeguard his capital, ultimately describing Tom as “one of the finest realtors” he had worked with during his career. In 2021, Tom received Marcus & Millichap’s Sales Recognition Award.

Before joining Marcus & Millichap, Gommels spent more than 25 years as a business owner and more than 20 years as a general contractor, with experience in construction and development. He has also owned, developed and built retail investment property, giving him practical insight into the opportunities and challenges commercial real estate owners face.
A Rochester native, Tom attended Calvary Bible College and has coached youth sports and participated in mission trips. Outside of commercial real estate, he enjoys pickleball and spending time with his wife and three children on their hobby farm outside Rochester.
