Economic Trends

The Atlanta economy registered annual job growth of 2.7 percent in the second quarter, a gain of 68,900 workers. In 2016, employers will expand payrolls 2.9 percent through the addition of 75,000 positions. Strong job gains will support retail spending this year, rising 4.9 percent with annual retail sales volume expected to surpass $95.5 billion.

Vacancy Trends

The vacancy rate continued to compress last year, dropping 190 basis points to the tightest year-end level so far this cycle. By the end of 2016 available space is set to drop 110 basis points from year-earlier levels to 9.9 percent.
