Ian Ruel


Ian Ruel joined Marcus & Millichap in 2013 to work on the Washington, D.C. retail, office and mixed-use team lead by Josh Feldman. He focuses on properties in the Northeast and Southeast quadrants of the District with an emphasis on urban redevelopment. Since joining the firm, Ruel has closed numerous transactions of development sites East of the River for clients ranging from opportunistic private investors to religious and community organizations. With the District’s industrial sector gradually disappearing from the Northeast quadrant, Ruel has been at the forefront of the adaptive re-use of many of these sites. Eager for the anticipated economic and transformative progress Washington, D.C. has long targeted for these eastern quadrants, Ruel is excited about the future of the area, specifically the new opportunities that will be created to revitalize submarkets that have seen less attention during this market cycle such as Capitol Hill and Hillcrest while still serving investors’ appetites for more well-known frontiers like Union Market. Ruel graduated from Bowling Green State University in Ohio with degrees in both Finance and Marketing while also playing Division 1 hockey. He remains passionate about the sport and volunteers his time as the coach for a youth hockey team in the area.
