William E. Hughes is a senior vice president and managing director of Marcus &
Millichap Capital Corporation (MMCC), which is ranked as one of the largest financial
intermediaries in the United States. In 2009, the firm successfully sourced and closed
$795 million in commercial real estate debt and equity structures. Mr. Hughes is
responsible for MMCC daily operations on a national basis. Mr. Hughes has a diversified
background in real estate finance, financial consulting and modeling, project feasibility,
leasing, construction management and real estate development. He joined Marcus &
Millichap in 1996. Previously, as a senior executive with several financial and real estate
investment firms, Mr. Hughes directly participated in the development, finance and sale
or leasing of more than $2 billion worth of commercial real estate assets. He is a graduate
of the University of Southern California.
Mr. Hughes is a regular speaker at industry events, including the Mortgage Bankers
Association of America, California Mortgage Banker Association, CCIM Commercial
Real Estate Outlook, IREI Dealmakers Summit, the RealShare series and Crittenden
National Conference. He is a featured speaker in Marcus & Millichap’s national client
webcasts for the National Multi Housing Group, National Office and Industrial
Properties Group and National Retail Group. He is a regular source for publications
ranging from Real Estate Forum, The Wall Street Journal and Commercial Property Executive
to Retail Traffic and Multi-Housing News. He has also written bylined columns for Real

Mr. Hughes is a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association of America, California
Mortgage Bankers Association, International Council of Shopping Centers and Urban
Land Institute. He holds a California real estate broker’s license.
