Gene Berman is an executive vice president and managing director of Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services. He also serves as a group managing director, overseeing the firm’s offices in the Northeast, Southeast and Texas. In all, Mr. Berman currently oversees 20 offices nationwide.
Under Mr. Berman’s leadership as the regional manager, Marcus & Millichap established a presence in Florida with the opening the Fort Lauderdale office in 1997. The Fort Lauderdale office became a top 10-producing office within five years, a top 5-producing office within seven years and the top office within nine years of its openng.
In 2001, Mr. Berman was recognized as the firm’s Regional Manager of the Year, an honor based on superior commitment, agent support and results. He has been involved in the agent training program and has served as an adviser to many managers. He is recognized throughout the firm as having hired, trained and led people into successful positions both within sales and management.
Mr. Berman began his career with Marcus & Millichap in 1982 as an agent in the Encino office. He received numerous sales achievement awards and was named senior investment associate in 1987. Mr. Berman then led the opening of the Fort Lauderdale office as regional manager in 1997. He was named a vice president in 1997 and earned first vice president status in 2001. His promotion to senior vice president took place in 2002, and he was elected a managing director in 2005.
Mr. Berman received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California. He also has a Juris Doctorate from Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles.
